Wine Helps Budget Optimism Flow:
"...When Californians look back on what eased this year's budget negotiations, the unsung hero might be a pair of distinguished Napa Valley reds.  Although no deal was struck Wednesday, the 3-week-old state budget impasse appeared to have softened during a 24-hour period in which Assembly Speaker Fabian N??ez shared two bottles of fine wine -- a 2002 Joseph Phelps Insignia declared by Wine Spectator as Wine of the Year and a 2003 red wine from Quintessa Estate..." (We can't promise this will work at home for our collectors but we were tickled to learn we might have helped a little here for fellow Californians!....The Quintessa winery team)

Napaman.com reviews 2004 Quintessa

2004 Quintessa
"How does the Huneeus family do it year after year, make wines of such elegance, such velveteen texture? This stuff goes down like velour. The wine exhibits dark, ripe red and black fruits on the nose, suggesting perfect equilibrium on the palate, and the wine delivers on the palate, in spades. This is a classic Rutherford Cab, gorgeous fruit; a stunning attack, a beautifully long bridge in the middle palate and a lustrous finish of notable length. I rated this wine 94 points but might have said 95 in hindsight."

As the understanding and appreciation of biodynamics continues to grow, we are seeing more and more vintners converting to what has become an innovative practice.  One particular biodynamically operated winery is Quintessa.  The unique vision of Augustin and Valeria Huneeus becomes apparent when you visit the estate...it speaks volumes about the incredible respect they have toward the land, and offers promise for the future of winemaking, as so many others in the industry are making a concerted effort to follow suit."

Reds, Whites & Green
"Wineries such as Quintessa and Grgich Hills...going beyond organics to produce biodynamic wines.  "Bio" means life and "dynamic" means energy. In relation to wine, this means treating the soil to bring the vine and the earth into balance.  The wines are defiantly more distinct, with a stronger sense of terroir ..."
